Simon's standing by the bed, looking down at the datareader in his hand, tapping the last item on his list with a stylus.

"...and I think everything else we can go ahead and pack," he's saying. "We're not likely to need it between now and the move."

"I can't believe you made a list." A little wry, as she shakes her head.

"I wanted to be sure we weren't forgetting anything." Mildly.

Kaylee sits on the edge of the bed, leans back on her hands, looks up at him. "How detailed are you, item-wise?" Tilting her head, with a faint smile. "'Cause I can think of a couple of things it might not pay to itemize, lest that list fall into the wrong hands."

He glances at her, and offers her the datareader with a wry smile.

"Just categories. Nothing incriminating."

"Too bad." She grins up at him as she takes the reader, and then she turns her attention to the list.

It's headed To Pack Last, and includes such items as a month's worth of clothes, toiletries, his medkit; things they'll need right up until they leave.

"If there's anything you can think of to add," he says.

"My tools."

She's not smiling quite as much any more.

"But I think I might just move those to Milliways. -- matter of fact, we could do that with the whole thing. Store it all there."

"It'd be easier than trying to unload everything from the ship," he says, considering, "but it might look odd to arrive with no luggage to speak of."

Kaylee tilts her head. "But wouldn't we be shippin' it all separate anyhow?"

"Probably. And come to think of it, we'll have the furniture arriving from Osiris..."

"So dependin' on where we stick the door..." She's nodding. "No reason not to, far as I can see."

He nods in turn, and sits down on the bed beside her.

For a moment, his gaze travels over the room.

"I think it looks like a bigger job than it is," he says after a moment.

Kaylee settles, lying flat on her back, staring at the ceiling. "Should go pretty fast." Quiet. "Gonna take more'n the trunk and rucksack I brought on with me first, though."

"We could buy a few packing crates, maybe." He studies the closet. "Or another trunk, or something similar."

"Somethin' on wheels." She tucks her arms behind her head.

"Or hoverlifts," he agrees. "Something we'll be able to move easily."

"Mm."

Her gaze shifts to his back; she doesn't say anything else.

After a moment, he leans back too, and turns his face toward hers.

"Think we should get started?"

"I think we ought to."

She reaches over, feeling for his hand. "Feelin' all lazy, though."

Her hand brushes his wrist; he shifts to bring his hand up to meet hers.

"So am I," he admits. "A little."

Though lazy isn't quite the right word for this reluctance to start.

"Oh yeah?"

With an audible smile in her voice.

"How often does that happen?"

"It's rare, I know."

He smiles up at her.

"Rare enough for us to take advantage of it without guilt?"

"...We probably should try to get something done first," he says, but it's reluctant.
